TIPS FOR USING YOUR HONEY IN YOUR OWN RECIPES


Substitute 1/2 -3/4 cup honey for every cup of sugar.

Reduce liquid at a rate of 1/4 c less liquid for every cup of honey used .

Counteract the acidity of honey by adding 1/2 tsp soda for every cup of honey.

Reduce the oven temperature by 25 degrees.

ENERGY BITES

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup ground flax seed
  • 1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup BOERNSEN BEES HONEY
  • 1 tsp vanilla


Gently warm peanut butter and honey. Stir together.  Add remaining ingredients and mix well.  Roll into balls and place on a cookie sheet. Freeze 1 hour. They taste great frozen. You can also press into a glass 9x9" pan. Freeze and cut into small squares right before serving.

HONEY MUSTARD DRESSING

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 T prepared mustard
  • 1/4 cup cooking wine
  • 1/2 cup BOERNSEN BEES HONEY
  • 1 T dried parsley


Wisk all ingredients together in a small mixing bowl. Chill. Serve with any fresh green garden salad. Yields about 1 pint.

STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE

  • 1 pint strawberries
  • 6 oz frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1 1/2 Cups milk
  • 6 ice cubes
  • 3 T BOERNSEN BEES HONEY
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs, optional


Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!


HONEY PUNCH

  • 1 cup BOERNSEN BEES HONEY
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1  1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1  1/2 cups cold water
  • 1 can unsweeteded pineapple juice
  • 1 to 2 liters ginger ale


Add HONEY to hot water, add fruit juices and water. Chill. Just before serving add ginger ale. Garnish with lemon or orange slices. 

HONEY Lemonade

  • 15 oz Lemon Juice
  • 12 oz BOERNSEN BEES HONEY
  • 100 oz Water
  • 10 drops of Lemon essential oil

HONEY WHOLE WHEAT BREAD

  • 4 cups warm water
  • 2 T dry yeast sprinkled on the water
  • 2/3 cup oil
  • 2/3 cup BOERNSEN BEES HONEY
  • 4 tsp salt
  • 13 cups whole wheat flour


Proof the yeast in the water and honey. Add oil, salt and part of the flour.  Stir. Continue adding flour and knead either by hand or in your mixer until dough stretches about 3 inches. For a superior bread use spelt flour and only 3 cups of water.
